Redesign budget / Start with scope

Website redesign cost: what changes the quote?

A redesign has no single DVS price. The quote depends on the pages, content and working features you keep, replace or connect.

A visual refresh is a different brief from rebuilding templates or adding an ordering system. Start by naming the work.

What do the website packages tell you?

Our approved business website offers give you concrete starting points for those package scopes. They do not set the price of a redesign or custom Shopify work.

1–2 pages
$299.95
4–5 pages
$499.95
6–7 pages
$950.95

Compare the full inclusions and billing terms on the pricing page. Existing-site repairs, content transfer and custom workflows need review. Online stores receive a custom quote.

Compare deliverables, not labels

Four scopes. Different work to price.

Use the same requirements when comparing proposals.
ScopeWhat the quote needs to nameWhat adds work
Focused refreshAffected pages or sections; copy, imagery, navigation and mobile fixes.Rewriting content, replacing assets or repairing a shared template instead of a single page.
Broader frontend rebuildNew templates and interactions; the platform, accounts and features that stay.Distinct page types, editing controls, app compatibility and reconnecting the existing customer journey.
Connected workflowProduct rules, artwork, pricing, supplier data or booking handoffs.Data mapping, conditional choices, failure handling and tests for combinations of selections.
Platform migrationContent and data transfer, URL destinations and replacement integrations.Cleaning records, transferring content, mapping changed URLs and verifying retained business processes.

Page count alone misses much of this work. For the decision about what to retain, use redesign versus rebuild. For the launch procedure, use the redesign SEO checklist.

Separate the budget

Build once. Plan what continues.

Project work

Design, implementation, agreed content work, migration and launch checks. Ask which deliverables and revisions the quote includes.

Running costs

Hosting or platform plan, domain renewal, paid apps, themes, email and payment fees where relevant. Itemize who pays each provider.

Later changes

Separate new features and ongoing updates from small post-launch bug help. Agree any support scope and price before work starts.

The DVS domain offer covers the first year only with our hosting. Confirm the included hosting period and renewal costs in your quote.

Real work / Why scope matters

An artwork field is not the whole order.

The Direct Laser Source connects SanMar and S&S inventory, artwork previews and size-aware estimates inside Shopify.

That scope includes supplier data, decoration choices and pricing rules. A layout-only refresh would not describe or price the same work.

Quote input: name the garment, size mix, artwork step and expected estimate. Ask what happens if a size is unavailable or a selection changes.

Direct Laser Source cap artwork editor with embroidery selected
DLS: the preview is one part of a connected apparel order. Final artwork and pricing still need review before production.

Retained backend / Separate responsibility

Keeping the calendar still leaves work.

In the Canario project shown above, Wix handles appointment availability and final confirmation. The custom frontend handles package selection, vehicle-based estimates and the booking handoff.

Quote input: identify the services, vehicle tiers, add-ons and booking destinations. State which existing systems stay and what must be checked between them. These examples explain scope; they do not disclose client prices or claim redesign results.

Bring this to the quote

A short brief makes prices comparable.

  1. Current site + goal.Share the URL and one customer task that needs to work better.
  2. Pages + content.List affected page types, who supplies copy and images, and what needs transferring.
  3. Keep + connect.Name accounts, apps, data feeds, forms and customer records that must stay or connect.
  4. Check + hand over.Agree the journeys to test, editing needs, access, walkthroughs and any later support.

Ask each proposal to separate included work, optional work, provider charges and assumptions. If you need to reduce scope, choose a smaller complete journey and request that version of the quote.

Redesign cost questions

How much does it cost to redesign a website?

DVS quotes redesigns against the existing site and agreed work. A focused update, new templates, a platform move and a connected ordering workflow have different requirements. The published business website packages are reference offers, not a universal redesign price. Send your URL, affected pages and one customer journey for a scope-specific quote.

Is keeping my current platform cheaper?

It can avoid a platform migration, but retained systems still need compatibility and journey checks. Repairing difficult templates or reconnecting custom rules can add work. Ask the quote to identify what is reused, changed and tested rather than assuming that staying on the same platform sets the price.

What is included after launch?

The agreed quote defines the work. We help with small post-launch bugs and inconsistencies on the website we built. New features, larger changes and separately requested ongoing updates are discussed and priced before work begins.

Can I edit the redesigned website myself?

Specify the content you need to edit before comparing proposals. Domain, server or builder access and video walkthroughs can be requested as appropriate to the setup. An optional dashboard for simple edits depends on scope and pricing; it is not included with every project.
